Things change is we change

Things start to change for better in life when our opinion of ourselves change for better. We see things differently and more possibilities start happening in life when our inner conversation is meaningful and empowering. Our story telling inside our head must be directly towards growth and improvement. It is hard to confront ourselves and be critical of our belief system. It takes courage to question our beliefs that are stopping us to reach greatness and it takes immense strength to break those self limiting walls we have built over years.

Don’t be causal in giving permissions to yourself

It is not a good idea to give permissions to do everything you crave for and react to various emotions we get. We are humans and we need some rules and standards to control ourselves without using too much of mind energy. The philosophy and standards that we define for ourselves would help us to take appropriate decisions without letting our feelings and emotions exploit our human nature.

Why we self-sabotage new found wealth

Many people fail and fall back to their ‘comfort level’ or we can call the level of ‘familiarity’ when their fame or money does not match their mindset or self-awareness or skillset. When people do not go through the grueling journey on their way to success, they would not develop that anti-fragile nature to be resailant and grounded when they have what they want. Generally it is quite common for people to take short cuts and bypass the trials and tribulations of becoming successful. People want to enjoy the glory quick and fast. You keep it when you work for it.

The mental, emotional and spiritual development is extremely essential for anyone to be level headed with tolerance when they experience the extravagance and comforts of wealth and prosperity. Many people who became wealthy and famous by going step by step through different phases of carrier and riches tend to develop a mindset to not go overboard when everything is working for them. They take advantage of the good fortune within their means and they have the self-control to never let their lifestyle dominate their earnings. Many great minds always stress upon keeping our lifestyle grounded so that it does not become a burden when there is low dip in our income.

Our brain unconsciously rejects or sabotages that is not familiar to it. It is an evolutionary behaviour for us to get scared and become irrational with anything that is new to us. Whether is a good event or a negative event, if that is something that we are not used to, then it is unfamiliar to us. An unfamiliar situation has some uncertainties along with it which is stressful and in a way scary to it. So for many people it becomes subconsciously overwhelming to self-sabotage the new fortunes and new success that they are experiencing in life.

Peace of mind vs happiness

You get peace of mind when you are aligned with your values, when you stick to your decisions, when you are disciplined, when you are committed, if you are working on your passion purpose in life. Running towards piece of mind may not always give you happiness in all situations. If you stick to your values and core beliefs and standards then it is inevitable that you have to face some rejections and disappoint others which in turn may make you feel bad.

Happiness is much simpler then achieving peace of mind because happiness is instantaneous and you can do lot of stuff at this moment to feel happy. Happiness is a state of mid and is a collection of positive feelings. For example, eating a lip smacking dessert gives you instant pleasure, drinking or smoking with friends may make you joyful for a while, watching a movie would make you happy etc. Seeking short term pleasure at higher frequency may reduce your peace of mind.

There has to be fine balance between happiness and peace of mind related activities.

You time as ‘no-body’ matters and builds strength

The process of being ‘nobody’ at the thing that there pursuing is the phase where they build the strength. The ability to remain invisible in spite of one’s best efforts is a superpower.

This journey of becoming ‘some-one’ from ‘no-one’ plays a key role in developing that mental and emotional nerve to remain stable and resilient during tough times. The ability to stay committed and not quitting during the times when you are the only one who can see your vision and you are the only one who is cheerleading the mission you are on will give you the courage to take right decisions when you are someone in life.

Many people give up too early because no one is giving them credit for their work, many people give up on their dreams when the life is hard, many people quit their noble ideas just before the god is about to answer, some people quit because of rejections or criticism or not getting recognition or just because others are not accepting their pursuit. But all great people were once ridiculed, maligned, attacked and when they stood their ground for long time, they were adored and respected.

Expect harder hills to climb once you are done with one

Success and happiness in life depends on continuous improvement and progress. Once you achieve something in life, you will realize you are about you face bigger challenges that come as part of that achievement. And it is supposed to be that way.

It is like you take great efforts to climb up a steep mountain and you reach the peak one day. You stand on the top of the mountain peak and look around to realize that you would see bigger mountains around and there are more people climbing those mountains and achieving greater heights than you did.

Point here is to acknowledge that our accomplishments and greatness will always subjective compared to where others are and what others are doing. But for sure it can be objective for us to pursue it and it is worth it when we compare with our previous version. We may never be the greatest but we can sure be the the greatest version of yourself. And sometimes that greater version of yourself could be enough to make you the greatest in a given area.

We all suffer in life and accepting this fact itself is a suffering

Life is suffering and accepting the fact that life is a suffering is in itself is a suffering. So choose your suffering instead of life giving throwing hard stuff at you. When you choose your suffering to be antifragile and adaptable, you would be stronger to face the inevitable struggles you face in life.

Life is going to be difficult no matter who you are, where you are, how privileged you are, where you are born in which country. If you prevent struggle that your children would go through then they are going to find struggle for themselves and most probably they are going to create unnecessary struggles for themselves that are useless that are purposeless and wouldn’t solve anything for them. Then they would struggle to even handle normal stuff that is not even a struggle in first place.

Teach kids to be resourceful and grateful

As Margaret Thatcher said “the best thing that could happen to a kid is to be born to a set of good parents with no money”.

Parenting is different from giving birth to children. Parenting may be the most difficult thing that parents could do if they choose to do it with a purpose.

We need to empower our kids to be resourceful rather than asking for resources to achieve something in their lives. We need to enable our kids to do their best with what they have and where they are. Kids need to be proud of who they are and stay on the path of continuous improvement.

Intrinsic motivation revolves around three elements

Intrinsic motivation revolves around three elements: autonomy, mastery and purpose.

Autonomy: the urge to direct our own lives. Having a sense of control and power over our lives.

Mastery: the desire to get better and keep getting better at something that matters.

Purpose: the yearning to do what we do in the service of something larger than ourselves.

These are the building blocks of an entirely new operating system for intrinsic motivation.
