Our Environment Has A Huge Impact On Our Gene Expression

• Researchers found that very few diseases today are actually genetically driven, and how our ‘environment’ has a much greater effect on our health than we think. Genes are turned ON and OFF by the environment.
• Our ‘environment’ means food we eat, lifestyle, exercise, sleep, job, stress in life, exposure to kind of information we watch or read, place we are living, exposure to toxins in food, air and water.
• It is not entirely true that if we are genetically pre-disposed to a certain disease, we are going to have the disease. Genes may increase the risk of getting the disease but if you take 2 people having same genes and put them in different environments, their life outcomes would be different.
• Take the example of Breast cancer, out of 100 women who have breast cancer, only 7 have the breast cancer genes. The rest of the 93 women got the breast cancer even though they don’t have the cancer gene.
• In many cases chronic diseases represent a person’s lifestyle and not their genes.

Stop people pleasing, over-explaining to unworthy people and Stop Craving For Others Approval

As someone said,

A person who can stand against the common thinking of his own family and society, can achieving what he wants in life.

  • Don’t waste time in explaining yourself to people who are committed to misunderstand you.
  • Don’t over explain things to others because many people just hear what they want to hear.
  • People will agree with you and join you when they want to. Some people may never understand you and it is completely fine. Accept it and strengthen your mindset to keep striding.
  • As long as you are pursuing your passion which is not only in your best interests but also helping others in some or the other way, you need to continue doing it whether it is being appreciated or not. You will get the due recognition if you stay long enough.
  • Other people especially your own loved ones will rub off their insecurities and fears on you when you are going against the conventional system of doing things. You own family would insult, demotivate you, scare you and behave as if you don’t matter just to cover up their own fear of missing you out, to hide their inability to work harder to be a better person and to feel less guilty by bringing you down to their level instead of raising their standards.
  • Generally it is difficult for others to accept someone doing something different that has never been done in their family even though it is something great. Sometimes it may take a long time before your people join you in your journey and in few cases it may never happen.
  • People will say what they want to say whether you do something great or you don’t do anything in life. What matters is what you say to yourself when you are not living up your ideals and standards in life.
  • I think we live in a prison as long as we expect accolades and acceptance from others for what we are doing in life. You will be liberated on the day you respect yourself for what you are pursuing instead of seeking respect from others for something they may or may not care enough as you do.
  • And don’t be judgemental when others are not believing in you and your goals in life. They may not relate to your vision as they might have a completely different mindset, different beliefs and values and different view of life.
  • So what to do,
  • Stop explaining yourself to people who lack the mental maturity and who do not have a purpose of their own to pursue in their life. If they are not on a similar journey as yours, then they most probably may not relate to your journey and vision in life.
  • Reduce expectation from others and stop expecting less from life.
  • Give selflessly and do not think about the returns. Give your services because you want to.
  • Pursue your passion and do things that you love because they matter to you, not because they must matter to others.
  • You must feel alive doing things that you love and do not expect others to somehow feel proud and look up to you for what you are doing. What you are doing might be great to you, but others may not even think of what is valuable to you.
  • I know you want to improve other’s lives and help others, but do not go around with the intent of changing others. No one likes to be told what to do and what not to. They will come to you when they want your support and when they realize that you have something to offer that could benefit them. Until then hold on.
  • Stop seeking validation and approval from others.
  • Consider insults, rejections and failures as your vitamins and supplements that support your hard work.
  • Stop feeling guilty for others anger, sadness and misery in their lives. Negative people will make you feel guilty for their own self created unhappiness in their lives.
  • As long as you are taking right decisions, not harming others, sticking to your standards which are moral and ethical, doing something that is not only improving you but also benefiting others , you must not give into the negativity and discouraging words from anyone.
  • Remember that it is our own loved ones who hurt us the most. So strengthen your mindset to ignore their words until they join hands with you wholeheartedly.

Explaining Habit Loops with an example

Habit loops can be formed from both good and bad experiences, says Brewer. Ice cream, for instance, is something we might eat during celebrations. The brain learns to associate eating ice cream with feeling good. Although there’s nothing wrong with ice cream, it can become a problem when we start eating it unthinkingly after an emotional trigger, such as when we feel stressed or angry. Now our brains have learned that ice cream also makes us feel good in times of stress, reinforcing the habit loop.

Over time, we can develop a number of habit loops that trigger us to eat when we’re bored, angry, stressed, tired after work or even just watching television. “What’s tricky about habit loops,” Brewer said, “is that the more automatic they become, over time you’re not even.

Knowing How to Do Does Not Mean Anything

If success is an easy thing all of us would have had six pack abs, all of us would have been a billionaires, all of us would be free of diseases, all of us would have had perfect relationships. But it is not the case because all of us know how to do it but we just don’t do it. Simple things to do in life are not easy to stick to. All of us know spending some time in sunlight, drinking enough water, eating healthy diet, exercising, sleeping, deep breathing are simple but they are not easy ones to keep up on a daily basis. Simple things in life that give the greatest benefit over long term are easy to give up. We quit on them because we have the power to do so. We quit on them because they generally do not give instant pleasure, they need some effort and it takes time to see the results.

Instead of neglecting and bypassing the things that are good for you because you have the control and power to do so, why can’t you think that you have the power and control over those same things to not quit. When you know that doing them is completely in your control and your will power, then use your power to do them anyways instead of quitting.

Your intention and reasons are important to remind you that you must take action anyways. Discipline and consistency plays a big role in giving you that momentum to keep going.

“If a man knows not which port he sails, no wind is favorable.”

if you have no idea what you want and where you want to go and what is your direction it doesn’t matter which direction the wind blows.

Your Ability to Handle Your Bad Days Depends on What You Did in Your Good Days

“Bad times create strong people – strong people create good times
Good times create weak people – weak people create bad times”

  • Assume if everything is going great in your life,
  • What is your typical day look like?
  • Do you have a routine that you stick to no matter what?
  • Do you have any activities that you would do consistently every day?
  • How do spend your time, effort and money when life is going well for you?
  • What kind of decisions you take and choices you make?
  • How do you behave with others?
  • How is your attitude in nice times?
  • Do you take care of your nutrition?
  • Do you exercise?
  • Are you sleeping well?
  • Are you giving love?
  • Are you spending time on doing things that matter and make you a person that matter when the time comes?
  • Are you showing gratitude to your good times in life and asking yourself “How must I make best use of this time”?

How you handle yourself and your bad days in life depends on how you fortify yourself during good times in life. It is better to show gratitude during those times when everything is going well in life and spend those days to improve and grow. Since you may not be able to do the stuff you want to in difficult times in life, it is better to make the best use of the time and resources when you are doing good. Everything that you do to improve yourself during your good days would definitely help you during your bad days.

System Does Not Care, Take Full Responsibility of Your Wellbeing

  • Weak and unhealthy people are good for business (lots of businesses like pharma, hospitals, insurance and different associated businesses) and healthy people are not.
keeping people unaware, uneducated, disempowered, misinforming, average, poor, unhealthy, mediacore, in debt, in stress, in anxiety, in isolation, devoid of critical thinking is amazing for a nexus of businesses which make a huge money out of people’s ignorance and fear.
  • Strong people, people who have their own beliefs, people who stand for their principles, people having critical analytical thinking, people who question, people who empower themselves to deal with difficulties, people who learn and educate themselves, people who strive to be healthy and fit, people who lead a disciplined life, people who promote natural and holistic practices to lead a purposeful life are generally not good for any business out there.
  • Exercising daily no matter what is not good for many businesses.
Eating healthy and whole foods is not good for many businesses.
Banning ads related various junk foods on kids channels is not good for many businesses.
Promoting nutritional supplements (vitamins, minerals, ayurvedic herbs, mushrooms etc.,) which could prevent many health issues or they could give boost to our body in times of need is not good for many businesses.
Promoting the importance of sleep is not good for businesses.
Teaching kids the importance of health, strength, mental wellbeing, emotional strength, financial planning in schools in not good for many businesses.
  • Anything that makes us better, stronger and empowered is generally not good for money making corporates and our system in general. We are helpless in a way because everything is interconnected and intertwined. For instance, just imagine if tobacco and alcohol industries are banned. There will be huge chaos, unemployment, people livelihood and families may be destroyed and huge negative impact on economy. So we are helpless in a way. Because of all these criteria our system has everything to keep us alive but it is not designed to make us “live our life to the fullest”.
  • We can only work with something that is in our control and it is best to ignore that stuff that is beyond our control. So take full responsibility of of your life and wellbeing by doing whatever you could do with whatever you have and wherever you are. The best investment you could ever make is investment in your self-growth and self-care.

Make your own Decisions

When you don’t listen to others, when you take your own decisions, when you make your own choices, when you take full responsibility for everything that happens in your life, when you are completely prepared and ready to accept any kind of consequences after the decision at least you will be in a position to accept what has happened and you will start doing something to resolve it.
Taking full responsibility and not comparing with others, giving importance to what you believe in rather than what others believe, not completely relying on others words and doing your own research and analysis, and making the best effort to take right decisions that serves your best interests would empower you. This will prevent you from falling into victim mindset when things go wrong.

It Matters What You Do During Tough Times

  • Anyone can stick to one’s’ decisions and values on a normal day, on an uncomplicated day or on a day where you do not have disturbances, mood swings , when all is well in life. So it is it is almost like you do need to put in effort or additional energy when everything is alright in and around you and you would continue with the routine that you have decided on.
  • What’s more important and significant is that what you do and how you manage to stand by your standards and values on a day where you do not feel like getting up, when you mind says NO, when you do not have that motivation, when you are going through tough times in life.
  • What matters is the kind of decisions you take and choices you make when life is acting against you despite your sincere efforts.
  • You need to focus on those kind of unpleasant days in life as majority of the days in our lives are challenging. You need to device certain practices and routines that would enable to deal with unfortunate circumstances in life. You need to have uncompromisable daily rituals that you could do in your tough days so that you could make better decisions.
  • Remember that everyone can do it when they feel like doing it and when everything in life is working in favour. It is when you are not in the mood and do it anyway, that makes all the difference in the world. This is one of the main reasons why some reach their milestones and some don’t.
  • All noble virtues like commitment, discipline, sincerity, honesty, consistency, integrity, sacrifices, adjustment,s cooperation are convenient to do when you are in peaceful situations. But what about when you are challenged, when you are having a bad day, when you were in a bad mood, when you are having all the negative emotions like anger, irritation, frustration, and depression anxiety, stress.
  • Commitment is mainly about keeping your promises and sticking to your decisions when things get difficult when your life.

Most Common Cause of Chronic Diseases – Inflammation

Depression, cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, dementia, allergies, asthma, chronic fatigue, autoimmune disease, and more are all inflammatory diseases. ⁣

That begs the question, what is causing all this rampant inflammation? It’s mostly our food—too many inflammatory foods and not enough anti-inflammatory foods. ⁣

While there are many ways food can trigger inflammation, food is also the most powerful source of anti-inflammatory compounds. Many of those 25,000 + phytochemicals are powerful anti-inflammatories. The polyphenols in plant foods are among nature’s best inflammation-fighting compounds. Where is the best place to find these compounds? At the end of the rainbow — a rainbow of bright pigments and colors found in plant foods, red, green, yellow, orange, purple. Extra virgin olive oil contains oleocanthal, for example, which activates the same anti-inflammatory receptors as ibuprofen without all the side effects. ⁣

Spices are anti-inflammatory powerhouses, including turmeric, ginger, and rosemary. Meat cooked with spices neutralizes potential inflammation. Omega 3 fats found in wild foods, fish, seafood, and some nuts and seeds are also powerful anti-inflammatories. ⁣

Mushrooms including Shitake, Maitake, Reishi, Chaga, Turkey tail, and Cordyceps contain powerful immune regulating and anti-cancer compounds called polysaccharides. And foods rich in vitamins and minerals boost immunity and reduce inflammation, including vitamin C, zinc, selenium, and vitamin D. Vitamin D alone regulates hundreds of genes that affect inflammation and immunity. So a meal of guavas and parsley (vitamin C), pumpkin seeds and oysters (zinc), Brazil nuts and sardines (selenium), and porcini mushrooms and herring (vitamin D) is an immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory super meal. Not sure what you could make with all those ingredients, but you get the idea!⁣

The best thing you can do for your health is to cut down or cut out inflammatory foods and increase anti-inflammatory foods starting today.

Importance of Having Daily Rituals and Routine

  • One of the most unfortunate persons in the world is a person who has to make judgements, decisions and choices everyday. It is so exhausting and tiring to brain to decide what to do from the time it wakes up.
  • It is also to say that this kind of a person most probably would not be having certain standards to strive for and values that he stands for and fights for.
  • Making decisions at different parts of the day consume mental energy and depletes the willpower.
  • Choose the activities that are in your control completely and make them non-negotiable. They must become part of your daily routine and they must drive your throughout the day.
  • Having a standard set of practices as part of daily routine like eating healthy meals at fixed times, working out, doing meditation or deep breathing, investing certain amount of time for your passion etc., would reduce the impact of uncontrollable factors in life.
  • Define a routine and have certain rituals for your physical and mental wellbeing. No matter what happens in the external world and no matter how people around you behaves with you, you have an agenda and a program to fallback. This will help you to regain your senses and get back on track.
