It is easier to lose weight than to maintain it

why is it relatively easier to lose weight but it is very difficult to maintain that that weight after losing it. Because when you are losing weight you are in the pursuit of better things and you have goals to attain. If you are a person who is tracking your weight lose regularly, when you see the needle moving lower, you get a sense of reward. Our brain releases a rush of dopamine for us to remember the moment and do it even more. Further more when you ar elosing weight it is a process of exploration and experimentation. It is trying new things and achieving new targets. This makes us feel good from time to time and we get to experience rewards by hitting our targets. Even though you need to eat healthy, exercise regularly and sleep on time, all this journey is new to you and you are in the journey of learning not only about yourself but also about food , exercise and other things. This system of tasks will keep us motivated until we reach certain weight point beyond which is unhealthy for us go any lower.

Now you need to do certain activities repetitively and have discipline to follow certain rules to maintain the fitness level and weight you achieved. After a while the rules and processes are common and mundane which are having discipline, having consistency and staying committed to keep our promise. At this point we do not see may rewards except we need to be conscious of the benefits, energy and mental clarity that our healthy lifestyle is offering.

Unfortunately, many people gradually lose motivation and give in to external events and compulsions. Gradually, they become indisciplined and slowly fall into the old unhealthy patterns.
