The first step to become better is to not make things any worse than they are now. This common phenomenon takes place in all of our lives especially when negative unexpected things happen in our lives. More so when we have to face the burnt without our mistake.

It is normal to feel like a victim when something bad is done to us. We unconsciously seek help and sympathy from others in those situations. At the same time we feel helpless and hopeless due to low energy state of mind. It is fine to grieve for a while but we need to get conscious of the fact that no one and nothing is going to come and save you.

The longer you stay in the miserable state and thinking more and more about the unfortunate event the more you feel like you are helpless and your future is hopeless. This pushes you into inaction mode. Your mind rationalizes your indecisiveness and justifies the negative thoughts you get at the moment. Gradually you take decisions and make choices in such a way that would make your situation worse.

What happened to you may not be your doing and responsibility, but healing and recovering is 100% your responsibility. It is hard but it is true. People around may help or support to an extent but it is you who need to take action and decisions. The only ray of hope and light is in the path of taking full responsibility of the life from this moment. We become better only by taking better decisions from this moment.
