Painful and negative experience which we can also called trauma are very important for us to create a better future. If we come in terms with our past trauma, we can turn it an event that happens ‘for’ us instead of believing that it happened ‘to’ us. Traumatic experience can be identified and named like the sign boards on the side of a road or Highway. We need to look at them and take appropriate action instead of getting stalled and frozen in the moment. Traumatic events take us in to flight, fight or freeze mode. We remain in a fearful state unless we consciously choose to get out it. We adopt certain compensatory patterns to overcome trauma and pain which may be beneficial for temporarily but may be mal-adaptive and harmful in long term.
