One of the worst forms of self hate and self hurst is to break your promises that you make to yourself. When you do this , you would also break your word that you give to others. Doing this will make you disrespect yourself and reduces your self esteem which in turn increases the feeling of guilt. Many people would do more of the same shameful things to normalize them and make it a habit for them. The more you do it , the more the habit becomes part of you.
So you need to break this cycle and first start keeping your promises to yourself. Once you say something in your mind, you need to stand by it. You cannot skip it just because no one has heard it. You need have the honest to stand by your word. Don’t even say it in your mind if you don’t want to do it. This automatically develops the mental muscle to keep your word not only to yourself but also to others. You gain self-respect and confidence by keeping the word and promises that you make. The best form of respect is self-respect. Don’t expect any respect from others if you do not respect yourself internally.
